The Benefits of Juicing

Juicing for Health

It is your usual day and you have stepped inside your favorite joint for lunch or a quick bite in between your busy schedule. Alternatively, it is an early evening and you are taking your date to the perfect restaurant. Included in the day's 'Special' is a glass of freshly blended juice, the kind that is visibly thick, rich and nutritious. Welcome to the new movement that is both trendy and healthy.

Choices range from mango, pineapple, grapefruits, cucumber, the smooth carrot juice, watermelon, kale, celery, lettuce, cranberry, dandelion, beet - the copious combinations that both cools your gut, gives you a fresh feeling and offers you the benefits of juicing that your doctor always says you require. Not only are juices healthy, but they also say that you know what you want. You don't have to follow the crowd.

At home, making fresh juice a daily part of your meal is one of the best things you can do for you and your family. Make sure you always have some in your fridge alongside water and milk. Insist that every family member take a glass. Build a habit around it, and you will never regret the benefits of juicing your dinner. In addition, you do not require an in-house juice bar unless you want to. Most simple blenders are great in homemade juices.

As we have all known, research has shown how important vegetables and natural foods are to our bodies, underlining the benefits of juicing. The National Cancer Institute recently started a nationwide campaign of encouraging juicing. The institute recommends at least three servings of fruit a day. This and many more published reports are all for our benefit and we should never take the lessons for granted. In their report, the Cancer Institute highlighted juices as having a direct effect in averting stomach, colon, rectum, lung and blood related cancers.

In many aspects, this is not news. For years, studies done all over the world and across all cultures have shown that people who take natural foods especially fruits and vegetables live longer, healthier lives and their bodies are less susceptible to diseases. Juices strengthen the body's defence mechanisms. Other benefits of juicing include healthier bones and better eyesight.

The wisdom and benefits of juicing are also captured from the many food and diet programs that fitness specialists have developed. Fitness programs for people struggling with weight loss or those looking to have leaner bodies are laden with information on the importance of taking juices as part of one's diet. It is believed that juices help in clearing up toxins from the body making them a key part of many detoxification programs.

Finally, juices provide another very important substance in the body - water. Whereas we may think we are consuming water when we take drinks such as coffee, tea and beer, these artificially flavored and alcoholic beverages actually contain substances that require more water intake to flush them from our systems. Juices made of vegetables and fruits do not have such foreign substances and are a great way of keeping you fresh and healthy. To learn more about juicing for health click here.
