Applying aloe to any abrasion or even a relatively deep cut will not only protect the damaged area from possible infection, but it will also speed up the healing process. If you have an aloe vera plant, snip off a bit and watch as the gel inside the remaining leaf oozes out. Note how the leaf shrinks then seals itself as the gel is exposed to the air. The gel has a similar effect on our skin as it dries and creates the ultimate natural plaster. I have not come across any other method or preparation which has the soothing and healing effect on burns or sunburn that aloe vera provides. It really is no exaggeration to say that relief could quite easily be described as instantaneous. As with burns and sunburn, it has a soothing, cooling and healing effect on various skin conditions, including psoriasis and eczema. A few more health benefits of aloe vera: Aloe vera can be taken internally to alleviate the painful symptoms of many digestive disorders, including colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, ulcers and heartburn.
Research has indicated that it is a super hydrating agent which penetrates our skin much quicker than water and is absorbed even deeper. There is no better way to keep skin smooth, soft and moisturised. I would recommend the use of shampoo and conditioner containing high quality aloe vera, for soft, shiny and lustrous locks. Strictly speaking, this may not be one of the health benefits of aloe vera, but it shows how versatile this plant is.
