Exercises to do at home should be part of everyone’s agenda. It is all well and good eating healthily and using
aloe vera juice and supplements. However, exercise keeps our bodies supple and strong as well as increasing our overall health and wellbeing.
Here are a few exercises all of which can be carried out in the privacy of your home and will not take up too much of your time.
StretchingStretching and yoga type exercises are some of the best exercises to do at home. In most cases, you do not need much equipment, just a mat so that your feet can grip the floor. You can either get a workout DVD that includes stretching exercises or learn basic yoga or Pilates.
You can use simple stretches to warm up before cardio exercise, but try to also do full body stretches and more challenging postures a few days per week, maybe in the morning. Yoga and Pilates DVDs are excellent for giving you a full routine.
CalisthenicsCalisthenics are simple but challenging exercises that so not use a lot of complex equipment. They are commonly done in the schools and military where a lot of people need to work out at the same time without expensive equipment. This means they are perfect exercises to do at home.
Examples include push-ups, jumping jacks, sit-ups, lunges, pull-ups using a bar if available, and calf raises. Like stretches, calisthenics exercises can be used either for warming up or as a full workout of exercises to do at home.
Strength TrainingYou can also perform many strength training exercises at home, although you will need some basic equipment. Dumbbells are a must. A barbell will be very useful too if you have the space for it. With just these you can perform many types of lifts, rows etc.
To be successful with your exercises to do at home, you need to find ways to motivate yourself to stick to them. People who work out at the gym only need to go through the door and then being there is enough of a motivator. But if you are concentrating on exercises to do at home, you will need more motivators to keep you on schedule. Here are some points that may help you to better fitness.
1. First and most important, make sure that you have chosen some exercises to do at home that you enjoy. There is a lot of choice when it comes to ways to keep fit, so there is no need to force yourself to do something that you hate. If you think that you hate all forms of exercise, experiment with different types and you will probably be surprised to find some that you actually enjoy.
2. Sign up for a public challenge such as a race, sponsored swim or fitness event.
3. Buddy up and train with somebody else. Even better, work with a group of other people and switch training buddies around the group at regular intervals, to keep things fresh and challenging.
4. Make a bet with a friend or family member that you can achieve certain targets by a certain date. Make sure that you targets are realistic, otherwise this can become a trap.
5. Bribe yourself by promising yourself certain rewards if you achieve your target. Make this stronger by threatening yourself with some kind of punishment if you don't achieve it - e.g. denying yourself your favorite TV show for a month. This will help you to stay motivated when you have your plan of exercises to do at home.
To conclude, exercises to do at home are important for everyone who cannot or does not want to join a gym. Even if your main form of fitness training is a cardio exercise such as running or walking, it is still important to have exercises to do at home at other times. The body needs to be kept strong and flexible if you are not going to suffer from back and joint injuries.
Remember also that exercise helps to improve your body’s immune system which in turn protects it from contracting colds, flu and other viruses. The regular use of
aloe vera or vitamin supplements do offer us protection but our bones, muscles etc need regular physical exercise to keep them in good working order.
