I have done this myself to great effect especially for sunburn. However, if you do not have a plant from which you can remove a leaf, you can use a ready made soothing gel, which will produce the desired effect. Having the preparation is also useful for carrying around in case of any small emergencies. I took mine with me on holiday and it proved to be very useful in refreshing my skin after a day out in the sun and the sea. At home I keep it in the fridge as it is extra cooling on application. More benefits of aloe vera gel?My other half uses the preparation after shaving as he says it takes the sting out of his skin. He does tend to have sensitive skin and when he shaves it can result in little red spots appearing on his face. The gel also calms this reaction down and the spots disappear in a matter of minutes. A friend of mine, who suffers from eczema, started using the preparation and is overjoyed at the results she is getting. For years she had been spending money on various lotions and potions, some prescribed by her Doctor and other over the counter remedies, but none have produced the relief that she has had with the aloe gel. There is also an aloe vera spray. This is of a thinner consistency than the gel and can therefore be sprayed on to any affected area. Using this option to a burn or other tender or painful skin condition has the benefit of keeping any chance of infection to a minimum, as it avoids the need for using physical contact with the affected area. It is also just as soothing and healing as the gel. In my opinion, this plant is truly magical.
