One such report, on the results of some research, undertaken into the use of aloe vera on non-insulin dependent diabetics, advised that blood sugar levels were reduced by an average of 45%, after ½ teaspoon of aloe extract was administered daily, over a period of up to 14 weeks. The report also stated that none of the individuals who took part in the trial, lost any of their body weight. As I have been fortunate enough not to be afflicted with diabetes, I cannot claim to have any personal experience in this area. However, I know a few people who do suffer with diabetes and I am aware of how it impacts on their lives from day to day. Of course, there are other measures that non-insulin dependent diabetics can implement to improve their situation. In many cases, loss of weight via the use of a nutritionally suitable eating plan can greatly improve the issue for some people. A close friend of mine, who also happens to be diabetic, was desperate to lose weight. After consultation with her doctor, she started on a herbal meal replacement product which she took twice daily and used an aloe vera concentrate, which she diluted in cold water, to help increase her intake of water. She used one meal replacement for breakfast and another for lunch. Mid-morning she would have a healthy snack and again in the mid-afternoon. In the evening, she would have a normal meal. As a result of following this diet carefully, she lost 28lbs over a period of 6 months, but the highlight for her, was when tests revealed that her blood sugars had returned to normal. She has remained fit and well now for over 2 years and continues to maintain her weightloss. This story highlights what a truly amazing plant this is. It has many health benefits to offer us.
