Relaxation and Breathing

Deep breathing does promote relaxation and feelings of wellbeing but unfortunately it is something we do not often do. Many of us tend to think of good health in terms of the food we eat, how much we eat and to a lesser degree exercise, however, a major factor we all seem to overlook is relaxation both of mind and body. Yes a well balanced nutritious eating plan will keep you healthy to a large extent, however it is also wise to consider the health benefits to be gained in some very simple routines such as breathing.

Relaxation and energy boosters

The importance of taking time out in our hectic lives cannot be over emphasised. Life today finds more people than ever facing increasing demands at work, new responsibilities and challenges, personal problems or a lack of self confidence as well as whole mixture of stressful situations arise daily. Now more than ever we need to take regular breaks from work and make some time for ourselves and our families.

One of the ways we can help ourselves is to learn some destressing techniques, for example deep breathing and meditation can greatly increase our abilities to calm our bodies in times of stress and will also improve our general health and well being.

We all need to make some leisure time to counteract the complexities of our modern lifestyles so as to restore our well being.

We need to enjoy some quality time with partners, children and friends and maybe even take up a hobby or pastime which will give us pleasure. We should try also, not to think too deeply about the future and concentrate on appreciating what we have in the present time.

In our Western civilisation most us of take breathing and our respiratory system for granted. However our Eastern counterparts have always known that breathing correctly helps to achieve and maintain good health and an enduring state of well being.

In the West the only times we consider our respiratory tract is when we are struggling to catch our breath as a result of pollution or some other such problem, maybe a degenerative lung disease. In fact we would do much better for our total well being to learn to breathe properly.

At times of stress we often breathe with short shallow breaths and in some cases end up hyperventilating. This type of breathing can cause you to become mentally and emotionally distressed and disorientated.

More about aloe vera

In order to breathe in a manner which will best benefit your entire system as well as promoting relaxation is to use your nose and not your mouth. When air passes through your nose it is warmed and any small particles are filtered out before getting into your respiratory tract.

Taking deep, long, regular breaths relaxes you both physically and mentally and helps to maintain a natural balance in both mind and body.

By taking the time to learn a few basic breathing techniques you are helping your entire being to keep a natural balance which will provide you with extra defences against the daily pressures and stresses of life.
